Beat The Heat—Our Favorite Basement Design Projects

The August heat may call for an escape to the basement after a long day in the sun. As far as basement design goes, these spaces are rarely at the top of our client’s list of requests, but having your basement feel complete probably means your whole home feels complete. And what a great feeling that is.

Here is our two-cents on basement design and our top-three projects that still stand out among all of our interior projects. One may just inspire a refresh of your lower-level hangout spot.

Brookside New Build

The Brookside New Build offered a clean slate for furnishing. As film aficionados, these clients wanted major comfort for movie nights with space to host, and to not sacrifice style.

We included our deep Langham Sectional with spill-proof performance fabric. Our team also made sure to put our reclining armchair into the mix. It’s leather and luxurious and extends at ease with the tap of a button.

Jackman Project

Along with a great space for movie watching, we love designing basements built for hosting. A wet bar, a gorgeous fixture above the pool table, and ample seating—the Jackman Project was a prime example of a late night hotspot for celebrating, for cocktail making, or for game days.

Speakeasy & Tasting Room

For a final highlight, this one goes to show basements can be anything you want them to be. Our clients are love hosting and wanted a special space to make small gatherings more fun. So, we give you the Tasting Room & Speakeasy.

A custom bar set up, sexy lighting, and accents that feel authentic. We imported a copper sink from Morocco, custom-ordered the red velvet sofa, and set up a red light to really set the speakeasy mood. Not to mention wallpaper and a gallery wall we specially curated for this space.

You’d be surprised to see the before of this space. We showcased it on an Instagram post you can see here. We love every detail that went into this one of a kind basement space. View the full Speakeasy Project here.

What’s next? A home gym or a cinema-style theater room?

We love helping clients see the potential in every corner of their home—including the one below ground. Your basement can be so much more than an afterthought, and we’d love to be a part of making that happen.
